Student Assistant at CSCP (EU’s SWITCH Asia Programme)

The CSCP currently has an employment opportunity for a

Student Assistant (SWITCH Asia)

for 10 – 19 hours/week at the CSCP office in Wuppertal starting as soon as possible and ending by September 30, 2010 (an extension is desirable)

I. Background and objective

The CSCP is hosting the SWITCH-Asia Network Facility. The Network Facility is funded by the European Commission to provide support to the knowledge sharing and dissemination and communication of SWITCH-Asia programme for promoting sustainable consumption and production and policy up-take in Asia.

II. Scope of work

  • Conduct background information studies on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) practices in different Asian countries and prepare short briefs on SCP trends
  • Preparing the materials for side events (including the presentations and facilitation materials for the capacity-building sessions at the annual Networking Event, trainings at the Delegations of European Commission, and for the side events at the Commission on Sustainable Development);
  • Perform regular updates of the ‘external SCP events’ section under the supervision of the Network Facility senior experts;
  • Support preparation of news items for the ‘latest news’ section of the SWITCH website (http://www.switch-asia.eu/);
  • Support enhancement of SWITCH-Learn section of the SWITCH website especially regarding the country specific activities and online learning tools that are in development;
  • Manage preparation of fact sheets and project progress sheets updates in collaboration with project managers of the SWITCH projects (http://www.switch-asia.eu/switch-projects.html) under the supervision of the Network Facility senior experts.

III. Qualifications

Fair understanding of Sustainable Development issues. Very good capacity in research. Team oriented and ready to take responsibility. Proficiency in English. Skilled in using computer applications including Word processing, database and web (ideally Typo 3). Asian background and/or national are especially welcome.
